Ingredients (makes 10-12 patties): 1 can of black beans, 1 can of garbanzo beans, 2 scallions, 1 green pepper, 1 red onion, 2 garlic cloves, about 10 mushrooms (1/2 of a small container), Worcestershire Sauce, Soy Sauce, Cumin, Italian Seasoning, Salt, Pepper, Crushed Red Pepper (Optional), Liquid Smoke (Optional), 1 cup shredded Cheddar Cheese, 3/4 cup Rolled Oats, Breadcrumbs (Optional), 2 eggs
-Saute 1/2 minced red onion, 1/2 of minced green pepper, 2 minced garlic cloves, about 10 diced mushrooms and 2 sliced scallions in Olive Oil and 1 spoonful of real butter until onions are translucent or about 8 minutes on medium heat. Season with salt and pepper.
-Heat both drained cans of beans in sauce pan until soft enough to mash. *easy if you have a blender or food processor
-In mixing bowl dump 1 cup of shredded Cheddar Cheese, and 3/4 cup Oats. Add the veggie mixture and mashed beans. Mix.
-Add 20 dashes of both Soy Sauce and Worcestershire Sauce. Salt, Pepper, Crushed Red Pepper, Liquid Smoke, Italian Seasoning, dash of cumin to taste. Add 2 eggs. If slightly sticky add 2 palm-size portions of Panko Bread Crumbs (or breadcrumbs of your choice).
-Form into patties and place in freezer for 20 minutes. *no longer! do not stack patties on top of one another
-Remove from freezer and saute in oil - approximately 3 minutes per side.
Jonathan's recommendation: Turn it into a veggie cheeseburger on a bun with sauces!
